New Metal Sculpture- August, September 2007

In october at Bridgewater College, Professor Michael Hough an art professor was putting together an art show incorporating recent art created by his students who had graduated.  These two sculptures were featured in that art show at Bridgewater College.

Title: Proud Peacock This sculpture is one of my most recent creations.  The peacock is full of bright colors and his feather display is showing for all to see.  The metal used here came from many places.  Some came from Willy Ferguson, a wonderful metal sculptor and metal fabricator in Staunton, VA.  The feathers that make the brilliant display, came as a set of tools from a yard sale.  I even went back to Bridgewater College, and acquired some metal from my mentor and teacher Professor Michael Hough.

Title: Changing Circles- This abstract sculpture is also a recent work.  It is named Changing Circles because the metal used was all rusted over.  I changed the rust to a black primer using a chemical wash, not black paint.  Then I put a clear coat over it.  Most of these pieces of metal came from a junk yard.  There is a short spring at the bottom of the sculpture connecting the base and other circles making it wobble and move when touched.
